After trying countless treatments for her daughter’s head lice infestation and finding they simply didn’t work, Eileen set up the NitNot headlice Clinic in 2017. In doing so, Eileen set about developing a non-compromised, eco-friendly serum and decided it was time to reach out to a broader market. BBC Ones’ Dragons Den programme seemed the perfect opportunity to showcase her business, hopefully gaining £40,000 worth of investment for a 20% share of her company.
Eileen shared all the benefits of NitNOT, including its eco credentials and received offers from the other Dragons, including entrepreneur Deborah Meadon.
After an impressive business pitch, Eileen accepted an offer from Tej Lavani for all of the money and a 30% share in the business. Although Eileen was keen to point out that she is a big fan of Deborah Meaden, she felt Tej Lalvani’s business credentials were the best suited to take NitNOT to the next level, to the agreement of Deborah Meaden herself.
The new products were extrusion blow moulded in 100% Sugarcane-based Biopolymer HDPE at Spectra’s manufacturing facility in Suffolk and take advantage of Spectras 200ml Tubular (Ref: 6004) design. The new packs also utilise Spectra’s dedicated in-house decoration service with the addition of four-pass silkscreen printing.
Spectra’s ever-growing Tubular range has proved a popular option for customers seeking the versatility of size capacities that run from 50ml to 500ml. As with all of Spectra’s 280 plus standard designs, these timeless classics are freely available in environmentally friendly Biopolymer materials and Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR).
Jayne Smy, Assistant Manager UK Customer Services at Spectra, said, “Sugarcane-based Biopolymer packaging offers an ideal solution for brands such as NitNOT to demonstrate their environmental credentials to their customers without compromising the quality of their packaging”.
Jayne went on to say, “Congratulations to Eileen for coming away from Dragons Den with the acceptance of an offer. We wish her and NitNOT all the success they deserve for the future.”
After her energetic and passionate performance on the programme, Eileen was reported to have said,
“I’m over the moon to be working with Tej. His expertise in branding and marketing is exactly what I was hoping for, and his impressive in-store portfolio involving Vitabiotics fits perfectly into the same retail sector. We have had an exciting start working on re-branding our range and look forward to broadening NitNOT’s distribution base and enabling more families to eliminate these itchy pests. Tej’s team has been fantastic. It’s an exciting time for NitNOT!”
